Where is mind?
Original pop surrealist portrait from Sleven. This piece started out as just a portrait study of a woman with died hair, that turned into an experimental freestyle painting. That holds more depth than just its vibrant tones. The style of the pulled down beanie, died green plaits and smoking cigarette drew Sleven to the original photo. It spoke to the 90s raised kid in him, that grew up on MTV, Kevin Smith films and skateboarding. Playing around with the fractured blocks of black disappearing from the head, as well as the splatters of paint and the punk looking mouth pose with cigarette alit, play on the fractured and rebellious nature of his misled youth in the late 90s & early 00s. Whilst the bling teeth and glowing peace flower, characterize his ability to still grin n shine through that era with an unwavering ability see a brighter and more peaceful side to life. A song from that era, that spoke deeply to Sleven, was a track called “where is my mind” by The Pixies. This name and feeling of this track, felt more than fitting to use as the title for this piece. Perfect piece for any rebellious souls hearthstone.
